2022 Ram 2500 vs 2022 Ford F-250

The heavy truck market has been flooded with tech filled vehicles that promise to cater for all your needs. With brands competing on performance and power, towing capabilities, size, and price. It can be difficult to trawl through all the catalogues and go out on test drives to find the best option. Two of the latest and greatest trucks will be compared, the 2022 Ram 2500 and the 2022 Ford F-250 – from here you can decide which is the best to go for.

Ram vs Ford Engine and Performance Comparison

Firstly, both have 400+ horsepower gasoline engine options. With the Ford having a super powerful 6.7L V8 turbo diesel option for around $10,000. This comes with 475hp and 1,050Ib-ft of torque. This trumps the Ram’s 6.7L Cummins I6 and outputs 850Ib-ft with 370hp.

Most impressive transmission option of a 10-speed Auto from the F-250 with the largest engine, the 7.3L V8 (6 speed as standard with the 6.2 Flex fuel V8). The Ram comes with an 8-speed Auto, or a 6-speed option if you go for the Diesel engine.

The pulling power of course is the best feature of these trucks. With the 6.7L Cummins diesel, the Ram can tow up to 20,000 pounds. The F-250 does also tow up to 20,000 pounds, as long as both are properly equipped with the correct tires, the 4wd systems and 8’ box for extra weight. The Ram offers less payload capacity, with max 4,060 pounds, but there is not much between them with the F-250 having a 4,260 rating.

Ram vs Ford Interior and Technology Comparison

Both have excellent technology options including Bluetooth, smart device integration and WIFI hotspots. But the standard Ram comes with front and rear park assist, adaptive forward lighting, Rambox cargo management system and proximity key as standard.

The Ford does come with a power liftgate as standard and automatic parking plus remote engine start. The need for a backup camera is evident with these trucks and both come with these fitted as standard. The Ford fares well in safety with lane keep assist and lane departure warning as standard.

Ram vs Ford Exterior Design Comparison

Both have iconic rugged designs, with several 2 door and 4 door options, with regular 6 ¾’ or upgraded 8’ boxes. Both can be tailored to your color and tough look you wish to go for. With the RAM offering more ground clearance as well as length and height overall, it is much more capable off-road. The 18inch improvement on wheelbase means the Ram offers better space but of course is harder to maneuver than the F-250.

Ram vs Ford Price Comparison

Similarly priced are the two hot rivals. For the basic 2-door cab pickup, the starting price for the Ford and Ram are $35,200 and $36,350 respectively. However, that Diesel upgrade on the Ford means the price can hike to the $80,000 range, with several options such as the Trailer Tow Camera System, Winch and STX appearance package which are great additions for your setup.

The top of the range Ram Limited starts at $64,255 and can hit the $70,000 mark if you go for the upgraded air suspension and Limited Level 1 equipment upgrade that includes: 17 speaker Harmon Kardon, adaptive cruise control, steering, digital rearview mirror, surround camera and lane keep assist.

Ultimately, the similarities are clear between the two hot rivals, they offer excellent equipment, engine and power options and can be closely matched when you need to tow. The more affordable Ford may be your go-to choice as a basic setup, but the Ram offers that extra capability off-road.
