2021 Jeep Gladiator Towing Capacity

The 2021 Jeep Gladiator can tow up to 7,650 pounds, when properly equipped. While this the maximum capacity that the Gladiator can tow, there are several factors that can affect this rating. Some major factors that will affect your towing include engine type, transmission type, trim level, rear axle ratio and whether or not your Gladiator is equipped with the Trailer-Tow or Max Tow Package. In this article, we will break down everything you need to know to determine your Jeep Gladiator’s towing capacity.
Towing Capacity By Engine Type
The 2021 Jeep Gladiator comes in two available engine options. First up is the gasoline-powered 3.6L Pentastar V6 Engine. This engine puts out 285 horsepower, 260 pound-feet of torque and can tow up to 7,650 pounds when properly equipped. The 2021 Gladiator also comes in a diesel-powered engine option. The 3.0L Ecodiesel V6 Engine puts out 260 horsepower, 442 pound-feet of torque and can tow up to 6,500 pounds when properly equipped. If you are looking to maximize your towing capability, you’ll want to opt for the gas-powered V6 engine. Still, there are a few other factors you’ll need to consider.
Trailer-Tow Package vs Max Tow Package
Before you start towing anything behind your Jeep Gladiator, you’ll need to make sure your vehicle is properly equipped with a towing package. The two available towing packages are the Trailer-Tow Package and the Max Tow Package with 4.10 Axle Ratio. In order to achieve the maximum towing capacity of 7,650 pounds, your Gladiator will need to be equipped with the Max Tow Package. For the 2021 model year, only the Gladiator Sport and Gladiator Sport S come with this option. The standard Trailer Tow Package can be added to any trim level. Details on both of these packages are broken out below.
The Trailer Tow Package includes:

Jeep Gladiator Towing Capacity By Trim Level
Other factors that will affect your Gladiator’s ability to tow include the trim level and transmission type. The Gladiator offers both an automatic and manual transmission with the automatic transmission being capable of towing more weight. The trim level of your Gladiator will also affect the towing capacity. Generally, the higher the trim level, the higher the towing capacity with the exception being the Sport / Sport S when equipped with the Max Tow Package. Confused yet? We break it down for you below:
