Optional engines in 1970 included a 7.2L V8 putting out 375 hp, a 7.2L Six-Pack with 390 horsepower and a 7.0L Hemi V8 rated at 425 horsepower. You’ll recognize this engine from other FCA vehicles like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Gladiator and Ram 1500. The V6 engine puts out a 305 maximum horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. You’ll also get an EPA estimated 30 highway MPG on the V6 engine.

 

5.7L HEMI® V8 ENGINE

Next up is the 5.7L Hemi V8 engine. Anytime you see the Hemi in the name, you know you’re talking about a powerful engine. The 5.7L V8 offers 375 max horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque. It’ll take you from 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds. And this is just the “base V8” offering on the Challenger!

Next up is the 392 Hemi V8 engine. This 6.4L V8 is the next up in the Hemi lineup of engines. This engine puts out 485 max horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The 0-60 mph for the 392 Hemi V8 clocks in at just 4.8 seconds!

We’ve officially entered into the engines that aren’t for the faint of heart. First up is the Supercharged 6.2L Hemi V8 engine available on the 2021 Dodge Challenger Hellcat. This 6.2L Supercharged V8 puts out an incredible 717 max horsepower and 656 lb-ft of torque. Get your stop watch ready as this Hellcat clocks in at 3.7 for its 0-60 mph.

If you thought that was crazy, the High-Output engine option adds even more horsepower! The Supercharged 6.2L High-Output Hemi V8 engine puts out a gut-wrenching 797 horsepower and 707 lb-ft of torque. With the new Dodge Challenger Super Stock trim, you’ll get some added power reaching a maximum of 807 horsepower! The Super Stock Challenger clocks in a just 3.3 seconds in its acceleration from 0-60 mph.
